Las Vegas: Free Stuff!!
When planning a trip it is very important to set a trip budget. Visiting Las Vegas is no different, the problem is you can either spend a very large amount or very little depending on how knowledgeable you are beforehand. Gambling can be an expense that varies when you are visiting the City of Sin, but I will talk about that in another post. Today I want to focus on the freebies that you can score on a trip to Vegas!
1) Parking - Almost every casino on the Las Vegas Strip has free parking, and not just Garage parking, but Valet parking is also free (make sure to tip). This is something that sets Vegas apart from other cities. When I visited my best friend in Chicago last summer I couldn't believe how expensive it was to park downtown. $20+ /hour, I kept wanting to suggest Valet, but then I remembered that it isn't Vegas and it would be astronomical.
2) Drinks - If you are sitting at a slot machine, no matter how much you are gambling, you drink for free. Drinks include alcoholic beverages, soda or once I got a hot chocolate, but make sure to tip your cocktail waitress they work hard and it is just polite. This is very important to know; I have gone to a bar on the strip that is in the middle of the casino and put cash in the machine, the bartender tried to charge me, when I mentioned that I was gambling and I didn't have to pay he gave me my drink. You don't have to pay a lot or stay that long, but you can score free drinks.
3) Entertainment - By entertainment I mean people watching, I have seen some of the craziest stuff in my life in Las Vegas. Once I was sitting outside at a restaurant and a man dressed up as the grim reaper walked by with a gigantic boom box on his shoulder, for no reason.
4) Room Upgrades - Every time I have ever booked a room on the Las Vegas Strip, I always ask if they will upgrade me to a suite. I would say 75% of the time they do, and I am not alone in this a lot of people have told me they do the same thing. It works best if you are only staying one night but it does happen for longer periods of time. It helps if you mention that it is a special event for you, but I have had it happen plenty of times when I was just there with friends. My motto is "it never hurts to ask, the worst thing they can say is no"
5) Game Play - If you sign up for a players card at any of the casinos they will give you lots of great deals, including but not limited to: Free Gambling, Hotel Rooms, Shows, Meals and discounts on things you purchase at the casino. Usually, you have to earn so many points gambling for some of the better rewards but many times if you just have the card and use it a very little bit they will send you free offers on lots of goodies.
I hope that you found this helpful, let me know if you are ever planning a trip and I can give you advice on this and more!
