TV Shows that I don't care for, but I have tried really hard...
I did a post on my favorite TV shows of all time, so now I am going to talk about TV Shows that I just don't care for, but have tried really hard to like. These shows fall under a subcategory of "shows that people my age tend to like." Many of the actors in these shows I like in other tv shows or movies, but I just don't like or am disappointed by these shows in particular. Another thing to note is I have seen many episodes of each one of these shows and have given them all a fair shot. Also, these are not in any particular order.
Please don't be offended by this post as it is completely opinion based:
Friends (1994-2004) - Most girls my age were and still are obsessed with this show. I watched it in high school and college along with everyone else, but when I step back and actually think about the show, I never really liked it at all. The characters were always making really bad decisions, acting slutty and not really caring about people around them; this would be acceptable if it was funnier. The show does have some very funny parts but in whole when you can't relate to the characters it's hard to really like the show.
**Favorite Scene: I will say my one favorite part of this show was the episode that Phoebe (Lisa Kudrow) was on hold for hours and wouldn't hang up as it had been so long and she was supposedly the next in line. Haven't we all been there?

Gilmore Girls (2000-2007) - This was also very popular when I was in college, and I watched almost every episode. The problem with this show is the character of Rory was so lovable when she was young, then she changed. We all loved the idea of mom and daughter against the world, then as she got older she started making bad decisions, keeping secrets and doing stupid things with her life. My main problem with that is when I watch a TV show I want to escape to a fun, happy world, not watch young successful people do stupid things (also my problem with a lot of reality TV).
Breaking Bad (2008-2013) - One of my friends became obsessed with this show and started telling me all about it, on a daily basis, so I was excited when I started watching it on Netflix. I kept waiting for it to get better. It had an interesting but depressing premise from the start, man has cancer decides to make meth to financially help family. It had a lot of possibility but I think as he descended deeper into the drug world and his family separated from him it just made for a super depressing hour of TV. I only watched 3 1/2 of the 5 seasons, so I am not being completely fair as my husband said it got better the second I stopped watching. I will just take his word on it.
American Horror Story (2011-present) - I don't think I have ever wanted to like a show so much, I loved the first season but ever since I can't watch it. It is very gross and gory, and I love horror movies and TV shows but I just cant get into this, which really bums me out.
The Daily Show with Jon Stewart/Colbert Report (1996-2014?) - The reason I don't like these shows has nothing to do with the show itself, but the fandom that it created. People watched these shows like it was the news, it is NOT the news. Watch the evening news if you want to know about the world, watch these shows if you want to be entertained.
New Girl (2011-present) - I have no good reason for not liking this show. The premise is cute, Zooey Dechanel is cute, I just can't get into it. I think they make her character TOO quirky, and I know quirky.
Scrubs (2001-2010) - This is another show that I wanted to like, the actors are great and it is a comedy, however I think it was just humor that I didn't get. It was quirky but serious and not in a way that I really understood. Maybe I will have to try to watch this again.
Dawson’s Creek (1998-2003)- This show is very easy to get lost in a binge watch. This show was on during my high school and early college days and I think it was popular because everyone wanted to be one of the characters and have the magical High School life where you live in a beautiful town and crawl into your best friend's window all the time. The part that I didn't like was it was too dramatic, life was hard at 15 but not as hard as the Dawson's Creek kids made it. Maybe the take away from it is, life sucks in high school but soon it will change and never be that way again, for good or bad.
Thanks for taking the time to read me dissect what may be your favorite show.
Stay tuned for my next post:
