New Years Resolution or Goal Setting?
Every year I make the same resolutions; eat healthier, read my Bible daily and save more money. Some years I have kept these going throughout the year and have done quite well but some years not so much. This year I am not making resolutions but starting goals. I know you may think that is the same thing but the difference is I am not going to hold myself to just this year, or if I fail in my goal I will just pick right up again and not wait until the end of a month or year. Each day is a new day and if one day I fail, I will just pick up where I left off.
Here are some goals I am setting starting in this new year!
1) Eat/Live Healthier - This one is pretty self explanatory. I need to stop all of my crazy eating habits. I am not 18 and a distance runner anymore. I cannot eat a pint of ice cream in one sitting. (not that I have done that in many years, but you know what I mean. I did eat 3 donuts in one sitting very recently.) I am going to set the goal to work out as many days a week that I can. This is very vague but it sets me up to try and not be disappointed with myself, which can be very self-destructive. I am setting the goal of not forgetting to take my doTerra supplements each day, these have made me healthier in the last few months than anything I have ever done. I have had fewer illnesses and just have an overwhelming healthy feeling. The last aspect of this goal is meal planning, I am working very hard on this one, and I know that meal planning will help me not only lose weight but save money.
2) Read my Bible daily - This is one I start every year and only once kept up with it. I started early this year and am going to hold myself firm to it as when I stay caught up with it, life is easier and happier.
3) Saving Money - Well that is what this whole website is dedicated to, saving money and sticking with it. In past years we have used many different annual savings plans, right now we have one that works for us but if you are interested I am going to share one that we have used in years past.
What are your goals for the coming year? I hope that you all have a wonderful 2016!

This is not the exact one we have used, but this is very similar. In past years my husband and I both had our separate savings and were able to save for large expenses this way. We not have a completely different set up, but this one was very successful for us and got us in the saving mindset. I am also very committed to coupons, money saving apps (such as receipt pal, ibotta, saving star, and checkout 51), and the $5 money saving plan. The $5 money saving plan is the best way we save for vacations.
4) Spend more time with the people I love - I just had an amazing Christmas and New Year with my family and I am determined to spend more time with them and the friends that I hold very dear. Together we can make this an amazing, and unforgettable new year!
What are your goals for the coming year? I hope that you all have a wonderful 2016!
