Annual Bills and anticipating them

One of my main resolutions for 2018 was to take a long hard look at my budget and become better at anticipating expenses. Personal Budgeting one of my favorite topics, not because I excel in this area, however it is something I’m always working on getting better at. It’s a lifelong goal. I love learning how other people budget and I devour books that give me different tips and tactics on how to budget. This year I decided that I was going to make it my goal to start anticipating annual expenses better. For instance, I know that there are two times a year where I always get tripped up, late summer and Christmas.  August is the month where all my annual bills come to hit me, it would've been smart if I had them all spread out but it is always August where I am hit with all my annual insurances, amazon prime, car registrations, (and occasionally a summer vacation). I always find myself in late July getting overly stressed as I check the mail and "remember" all of my annu

When I was in Kindergarten, I decided that I wanted to have glasses. I was so jealous of my classmates who had glasses, my parents didn’t wear glasses at that time, so kindergarten was my first experience knowing that some people wore them and some didn’t. I wanted to be one of the lucky few, I asked my classmates how they got glasses and one of my friends told me their eyes hurt and they got them. Easy enough I decided, I went home and promptly told my mom my eyes hurt. I continued to complain about painful eyes until she took me to the eye doctor. We were sitting in an examination room waiting for the doctor and my mom explained to me that the doctor was going to have me read a chart, if I got all the answers 100% correct I would get glasses. I was estatic my mom told me what to do! The doctor came in and I answered his questions perfectly, I was so happy. He told my mom my vision was perfect and we left. I was baffled, why didn’t we pick out glasses? My mom explained what happened.

How did it get to be 2018?

Happy New Year!! I know I am 19 days late on the well wishes but 2018 was a rough start in my household. We got the flu and my husband and I were down for the count. We realized by the end of it that we haven't spent that much time together in our home since we first got married; but instead of it being a fun honeymoon busily settling into our new home it was a lot of cough syrup, chicken soup and video games.  The bright spot was I was able to introduce my husband to SNES' Zelda a Link to the Past. He had never played it!!  I know that game better than I know most things (I am a huge video game nerd) so it was fun playing it with him for the first time. I love making New Years resolutions, and I still did that this year but I am starting them a little late.  I decided the best way to get going with my resolutions is to share them on my blog.   1) Continue to Choose Happy:  A few years ago, I made some changes in my life and I decided to be happy and enjoy life.
